Thursby Primary School is an inclusive school which offers the highest quality provision for pupils with all types of special educational needs. We believe every child is unique and should be supported to achieve their full potential. Our inclusive approach ensures that children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are fully involved in school life and learning. We work closely with families and outside professionals to understand each child’s needs and provide the right support at the right time. Through early identification, personalised learning plans, and a nurturing environment, we aim to build confidence, independence, and a love of learning in all our pupils.
To find out more about how we do this, please see our SEND Information Report below.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disability Co-Ordinator (SENDCo) is Mr Carl Barnes. Contact details are below.
Contact Mr Barnes on 01228 711180 or via email at sendco@thursby.cumbria.sch.uk
When reviewing our SEND policy documents we utilise Educational Research and most recently used the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) guidance report on SEND in Mainstream and EEF's Effective use of Teaching Assistants to guide and support our SEND provision in school.
The SEND Local Offer is the central information point for families with children and young people aged up to 25 years with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Here you will be able to access additional information about services and support available.
