Learning and Growing Together

Our Curriculum

At Thursby Primary School, we are deeply committed to developing the whole child and ensuring that every pupil is given equal opportunities to thrive. We believe education is not just about academic achievement, but about nurturing character, resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of self-worth.

A key priority for us is supporting the development of resilience and confidence in every learner. These qualities help children to engage more deeply, stay motivated, and approach their learning with curiosity and determination. When children are resilient and confident, they are more willing to take risks, embrace challenges, and persevere in the face of difficulties. This allows them to recognise their own value and understand the positive impact they can have on others and the wider world.

Our school values form the foundation of all we do at Thursby: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Teamwork, and Positivity. These values are not only taught but embedded in our everyday practice, guiding how we learn, play, and grow together as a community. They shape our expectations, our relationships, and the way we prepare our children to flourish both in school and beyond.

Alongside our values, we provide a creative and inclusive curriculum that sparks curiosity, celebrates diversity, and supports the unique needs of every learner. Our carefully designed topics are engaging, relevant, and accessible, helping children to make meaningful connections across subjects. Through hands-on learning, outdoor experiences, and enrichment opportunities, we encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

By recognising and valuing each child’s background, interests, and abilities, we ensure that our curriculum not only meets academic standards but also develops confident, resilient individuals with a lifelong love of learning. At Thursby, we prepare children not only for the next stage of their education, but also for life — equipping them with the skills, values, and mindset needed to thrive as lifelong learners and positive contributors to society.
