“Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.” -‘Statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage Published: 14 July 2025 Effective: 1 September 2025’
What is EYFS?
The EYFS, or Early Years Foundation Stage, is the statutory framework in England that sets out the standards for learning, development, and care of children from birth to five years old, including the reception year of school. It ensures children are kept safe, healthy, and are school-ready through play-based learning across seven key areas.

EYFS at Thursby
At Thursby in EYFS we aspire for our children to be 'life-long learners' through creating a safe, secure and engaging environment. We offer a curriculum which is meaningful and inspiring with intentions to support the development of the whole child.
Children engage in a variety of adult-led and play-based learning activities which are planned to support their next steps in learning and development. Children thrive in our indoor and outdoor environment, having opportunities to explore their natural curiosity as well as being active learners.
Positive relationships with parents are promoted to ensure each child's school journey has a successful start.
Every child is treated as an individual and our aim is to ensure they achieve their own version of success.
