The old Thursby School was demolished by Fred Brown in September 1963. The old school bell was retained and has a new home in the entrance way of the ‘new’ Thursby School.

Photographs of Thursby School when it stood on the village green in the centre of the village.

These images show the War Memorial in Thursby. It once stood on the eastern edge of the village green. It was regularly cleaned by Thursby school children. The boys used to carry water from the pump down by West View and the girls used to do the cleaning, except the very top which the boys used to do. and then was moved to St Andrews church.

John Edward Taylor's name features on the Thursby War Memorial. He served during WW2 on the submarine HMS Triumph which went missing in action in January 1942. These photographs show this war hero and HMS Triumph.

Miss Lamb features in this newspaper article. She taught at Thursby School throughout WW2.
