October 2022 - well done to our KS2 cross country runners who attended the Carlisle School Games cross country event at the Sheepmount. There were hundreds of runners present from 29 schools and the children from Thursby ran excellent races. Well done everyone!

September 2022 - A huge well done to our year 5 and 6 football team who made it to the finals of the small schools 7-a-side football tournament at Harraby 3G pitches. Sadly, they were beaten and narrowly missed out on a place in the county finals. Well done all.

On Sunday 26th June 2022, some of our families participated in the Children’s Cancer Run at Bitts Park. There were children (and parents) who ran the 1, 3 or 5 mile course to raise money for children fighting cancer. Well done everyone!

Celebrating Queen Elizabeth's 70th Platinum Jubilee

On Thursday 19th May 2022, Thursby School celebrated the 70th year of Queen Elizabeth being on the throne. Children enjoyed various activities throughout the day and enjoyed a picnic buffet lunch together. As a whole school we planted an Apple Tree to commemorate this special event and we will watch this grow over the years and hopefully be able to enjoy the fruit it provides.

On Sunday 5th June Thursby Village will be commemorating this special event with school and the community on the Jubilee field adjoining school. The whole community is invited to a day of activities and fun together.

GNAA Thanks!

Thank you to everyone for supporting the Great North Air Ambulance Birthday celebration day in school on Friday 13th May 2022. You raised £170 in voluntary donations towards this life-saving cause!

Great North Air Ambulance

On Monday 28th March we enjoyed a visit from the GNAA staff who led an assembly in school and as such school will be raising money towards this amazing facility to support the ongoing emergency services who require fundraising in order to keep saving lives. A non-uniform day in April after Easter will support our fundraising.

Whilst, unplanned and unexpected, we were extremely lucky to have the air ambulance itself land on our school field the same week after our assembly. The pilot was extremely kind allowing Class 4 to visit it. They were amazed at how large it was and one young boy exclaimed he would like to fly this helicopter one day. This resulted in GNAA staff sending school a great photo of the helicopter and the school building whilst also acknowledging the aspiration of the young boy for his future.

World Book Day March 2022

Year 1 ‘booknic’ in our reading cafe! As well as sharing some fabulous books, we also shared some hot chocolate and biscuits!

This beautiful collage is part of a fundraising activity for the Jigsaw Children's Hospice. Thank you to the group of crafty children who have worked to create a masterpiece! It will be part of a giant jigsaw which is meant to raise funds for the charity and also celebrate Cumbria.
