  • UPDATED URGENT AND ESSENTIAL EMERGENCY CHILDCARE PROVISION FROM MONDAY 30TH MARCH FOR FRONTLINE KEY WORKERS EG NHS/999

    Thu 26 Mar 2020

URGENT AND ESSENTIAL EMERGENCY CHILDCARE PROVISION

    26.3.20

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Along with twelve other schools we are part of Rural South Carlisle Cluster. We are offering a child care hub as from Monday 30th March for families of key workers who have no other child care alternative. As a cluster we are working hard to ensure that childcare can remain in place for those children of key workers throughout the duration of school closures. Please be aware over the coming weeks this may be a diminishing resource.  We must reiterate however that provision is ONLY for our front line key workers - it is not free child care.  We all have a duty to make sure only those families who urgently need this support have access to it.

The message is and must continue to be CHILDREN ARE SAFER AT HOME!

The following schools will act as a cluster hub over the next three weeks:

    w/c 30th March: Cumwhinton School

w/c 6th April: Kirkbampton CE School

w/c 13th April: Raughton Head CE School

This will continue on a three week cycle until further notice and will be available Monday-Friday 9am-3:30pm, please do not arrive at any school before this time.

If you need to use this service as a matter of urgency and have no other forms of childcare eg another adult at home who is not a frontline key worker (NHS/999) aswell as having evidence from an employer that supports this need please contact your own school via the following email: admin@thursby.cumbria.sch.uk

You will need to contact your child’s school using the above email to request the registration documents. Going forward weekly emergency childcare must be booked through your own school (see above) by 6pm each Wednesday night so HeadTeacher’s can contact the hub administrator in order to ensure correct staffing levels can be maintained.

A packed lunch will need to be provided by you unless your child is in receipt of Free School Meals in which case the hub school will provide your child with a packed lunch.

Please ensure your child wears their school sweatshirt and trainers. They will also need to bring a water bottle, coat and a pair of gloves for handling outdoor equipment and any medication they may be taking. Please make sure you have completed an administration of medicines form which you can obtain from your school’s headteacher.

Please be aware this offer is provided by staff from a combination of schools and it is important to realise that your child may not know any of the staff.

We are very grateful to all the staff volunteers across our cluster of schools who are providing this service; be patient with us - it is an imperfect model to an ever changing crisis.

Please only use this service when you have exhausted all available child care options.

Remember you child is safer at home.

    Many Thanks

    Rural South Carlisle Heads

Please view our letter to parents dated 13.03.20 on our website and which was  sent home to parents on 13th March 2020.

At Thursby School we are actively being proactive in taking measures to help minimise the risk to everyone. Our letter details the main changes for parents to  be aware of, however there are other changes within school that staff are consistently following and supporting for everyone.

We will update parents with any new available information from Public Health England in a timely manner. Please be assured we are ensuring consistent high levels of hygiene in school and have plenty of supplies for hand washing for all.

Please view our posters in school and on exit doors for advice for hygiene.

  • Thursby Big Pick Up

    Wed 19 Jun 2019

Thank you to everyone who participated in our community litter-pick on Friday 14th June.  Members of the school council performed a story in a special assembly to launch the event before the whole school got cracking with a range of activities to help improve the appearance our school and village.   We were supported by a fabulous team of volunteers including Parish Counsellors, Gary and Gary from Allerdale Borough Council, Tivoli Group, Home Housing and PCSO Kerry Harris.  Cath Ball worked with Class 3 to create a super, colourful mural made from recycled bottle tops.  It looked really amazing when it was finished!  We look forward to seeing it up on the wall in school as a lasting reminder of super day.

  • Well done to our Country Cross Country runners!

    Mon 11 Feb 2019

A HUGE WELL DONE to the 5 children from Years 4-6 who represented the district of Carlisle at today's cross country competition. The children battled across and over the muddy fields and hills to the finish line against competitors from across the county. They did me and the school proud! Well done to you all!
